Operating in Perth, a lot of our kitchen renovations fall into the coastal kitchen category.
It’s a style we’ll never tire of! Aside from being functional space, coastal kitchens come with a relaxed, kick-off-your-shoes atmosphere where you’ll feel inspired to whip up the occasional Aperol Spritz. So, what are our favourite beachy renovation must-haves?
White, white, and white
A typical request for a coastal kitchen is a crisp and clean white finish. In addition to looking beautiful, the space feels bright and breezy. They come into their own in summer, but can be easily warmed up in winter with cozy displays and décor. Our white coastal hero below has a touch of Hamptons to it.
Natural materials
Natural materials are an absolute must because they’re synonymous with being outdoors. Wood is a staple — it can be incorporated through flooring, benchtops, stools, or cabinetry. Other materials we love to use include rattan and stone. A jute rug always looks good as well.
Beachy hues
Natural materials are wonderfully balanced with organic beach-inspired hues. For instance, blues, aquas, yellows, and neutral beiges. It might be shown through a splashback, custom cabinetry (learn about mastering coloured cabinetry here!), artwork, pendant lights, or décor. This faded blue cabinetry is a win.
Industrial
Inspired by our very own Fremantle, blending beach and industrial is the new norm. This industrial coastal area has opened up a new realm of Perth design, because normally, these styles aren’t paired in a kitchen. But, as you can see in the below image, the industrial light and shelves still create a coastal style.
